Review - The Brooklyn office is extremely helpful. Anything i request either a young man Jay or Heidi assists me with . And if they can't then they try their absolute best to help me. I live in the tennis court building and at times the super is lazy heidi and Jay make sure he gets work done. Only if UA had more porters would they see an exceptional increase in physical work performance. From my understanding Jay and Heidi not only take control of TC but almost 30 some what buildings in Brooklyn. They are always stressed out but they never run away from problems. If UA had more workers like Heidi and Jay they would make wonders happen.

Review - I have lived in Urban American buildings in Brooklyn for 3-4 years now and am very happy with their service. They try... Not always perfect, but they definitely try. The building I live on is the cleanest and nicest on the block. The Brooklyn office always seems overwhelmed but they make sure ALL our complaints and questions are handled as best they can....
If/When I move I am going to look for another Urban American building....

Review - I rent an apartment from UAM in Brooklyn, New York. I find it very hard to get anything remodeled or replaced in your apartment if you are a tenant that has been living in the building for a long period of time. They take a long to fix or maintain the property in my building. They building I live in is over 70 yrs old, and the pipes, electrical system is in dinosaur condition. We need to be updated ASAP. They need to take care of the buildings better and fix the intercom system. Doorbell and intercom buzzers does not work for the last 2 years. I know they can do a lot better

Review - I have been renting from UA for the last two years, and the experience has been great. The costumer service at the NJ office is outstanding. Whenever I have any questiones about my rent the peaple in Account Receivable are very helpful. Even if my question is not about rent, they always know who to transfer me to. The building is always clean and the neighbors are great. I turely believe that UA is one of the best landlords out there. Two Thumbs up to UA.

Review - I've had a great experience with Urban American. I've lived in three of their buildings over the past 7 years and have nothing but great things to say. When ever I've had maintance or rent issues they are very responsive and helpful. Most of their staff is very knowledgable. I would recomment Urban American to anyone. Their apartments are beautifully renovated and moderately priced.

Review - I just googled Urban American becuase I am looking for another apartment to rent from them in Queens and I saw this review site. I feel compelled to put in a GREAT review for UA because they are a terrific management company and they take very good care of their buildings and their residents. Cheers to quality service! I just wish they would buy more buildings because I need an apartment near my new nursing job and they don't seem to have one as close as I would like, but I'll take the nearest UA building I can find.

Review - I am not quite sure what the last poster means. I am a tenant in a UAM building and I have found that a lot Urban American's employees live in an their buildings. That is why I decided rent the apartment. UAM's buildings are usually the best buildings on the block or they make them that way. All of the bad tenants that live in UAM buildings were probably in the buildings when they bought them because UAM has pretty tight restrictions on who they rent to. The last poster should have made the same efforts to assist the landlord who owned the building before UAM because that is who brought those tenants into the building.

Review - I live in a community in Jersey City where U.A.M. manages numerous apartment complexes. The structures themselves are very beuatiful, just needing cosmetic care on the outside of buildings and in common areas inside. I worry most about their selection of tenants and the security in and around their buildings. I have observed open air drug sales taking place in and around their buildings in Mc Kinley Square neighborhood. In an effort the rid the community and our block in particular of this scourge,Our Homeowners association along with the Tenant association are working with community organizations as well as city officials to assist U.A.M. with ridding their developments of this problem. The only problem with their properties is lack of on sight management and poor tenant screening. I don't think many of the people who work for this company would live in the properties they rent, particularly the ones in my neighborhood. That should tell you something.......

Review - I live in an Urban American building and I can say with 100% certainty that they are the best landlord I have ever had. Leasing the apartment was easy and there was no fee!They keep the building clean and I have never had any heat or hot water problems. The maintenance staff is very friendly and professional. Sometimes it is hard to get through to them when they are busy, but they always get back to you and respond quickly. Since they have many buildings in the New York City area, I will probably call them first if it comes time to move.

Review - I just moved from an Urban American building in Union City to one in Queens. My job moved to Queens and the commute was to long from NJ. I originally called to tell them I was going to have to break my lease. After explaining my situations - it felt as though they really cared about me - to them they said that they would allow me to break the lease because of my situation but that I might also want to look at a building they own and manage near my new work. I went and looked and the aprment was great - new kitchen, new bath, close to the subway. They let me cancel my old lease and sign a new lease in the new building. The leasing people were very helpful and really listened to my situation. Once I moved in I realized that a cabinet in the kicthen had not been installed perfectly - a carpenter was sent out the next morning to fix the problem. I haven't had any problems since then. Overall I have had a very good experience with them and do recoomend them to my friends.

Review - I think that Urban American is a great management company. I have been renting an apartment from them for the last couple of years. They are courtious and professional and have responded to all of my requests for service and even helped me find an apartment for my sister. Their apartments are in great condition, with very nice kitchens and bathrooms and they do excellent work fixing them up. I don't think there are any perfect landlords out there, but Urban American is very good.

Review - I have tried to rent an apartment from Urban American. They are extremely unprofessional, the leasing agents are usually not at their desks, and they do not return phone calls.
I have left several messages on the voicemail of *, and have only gotten one callback, no follow up calls were ever made,
It is almost as if Urban American does not wish to rent their vacant apartments.
I cannot comment on the quality of the service that Urban American provides because I have never had the oppurtunity to even view an apartment managed by them, let alone rent one. If you are able to capture the attention of a leasing agent for more then 10 minutes, then perhaps you may have the oppurtunity to rent one of their apartments, but don't count on it.
Very unprofessional. Two thumbs way down.
