Review - I have been seeing Dr. Balacco since 2007. The staff always manages to fit me in if I get sick suddenly and they are available to answer questions most of the time. Dr. Balacco is a no-frills kind of doctor, but he knows his stuff and has always made time for me in the appointment and listened to my concerns. The only thing is that the couple of referrals I got from him for some specialists haven't been the best for me, meaning that I ended up not likeing them. But I don't think it's a reflection of the practice. Matching doctor and patient is a balancing act. Even though I'm not in Hoboken anymore, it's worth the drive in to have a doctor like Dr. Balacco.

Review - I have been going to Dr. Balacco for 25 years. The staff always tries to fit me in as soon as possible, and even when I have not been there in some time, they know exactly who I am. Dr. Balacco treats me with respect, as an equal adult, listens to all of my questions and concerns and outside information I bring to my appointments and takes the time to fully discuss all possible treatments. He is extemely knowledgeable and caring and he and his staff work hard to accommodate everyone in this busy practice. I rate them A+.

Review - The doctors are very good, personable, thorough and patient. However, getting past the receptionists and other staff is a nightmare. They never answer the phone and when they do, they'll put you on hold for 15-20 minutes. Trying to get an appointment is almost impossible.

Review - A friend recommended Dr De Marco, but had warned about the near impossibility of getting an appointment. I have to say that the office must have changed, as I was able to secure an early morning appointment within the next few days (even as a new patient_. At first the receptionist tried to push me almost three month's ahead, but when I explained why I needed to come in, she was very accomodating.

Review - The doctors are great. Despite the fact that the doctors are almost always overbooked, they deal with patients in a friendly and professional manner. Patients are usually seen quickly. The major downside to this practice is the office staff - they are consistently rude and inefficient. It's become nearly impossible to speak to a live person to make an appointment or to even leave a message. When you arrive at the doctor's offices, it's quite clear to everyone in the waiting area that the staff are either gossiping or eating a meal (not answering the phone as you are led to believe when you call up). The staff demand to be treated with respect, but never show the patients any respect. It usually takes the doctors less than 15 minutes to conduct a simple exam, but you'll be stuck there for another 30 minutes just trying to get the office staff to print your referral form or give you a receipt so be prepared.

Review - The doctors are very nice and caring, however, the is EXTREMELY limited access to them unless you are expecting a baby. The office staff continues to handle you and due to the popularity of this office, the earliest appointment you can get for a current health problem, not just a check up, is three weeks out. Love the doctors, just wish I could talk to them instead of simply being prescribed pills by the nurse.

Review - I recently changed my private Dr. for Dr. Demarco he was exactly what I was looking for. A Dr. that can take his time to explain to you what it is that you may or may not have. I am very pleased with this Dr. for anyone that is unsure about choosing a good Dr. I Higly Recommend him & his partner bollacco whom I also seen and is very helpful. Review - I found myself with a terrible case of bronchitis recently and called several doctors around Hoboken trying to get an appointment to no avail. After I finally got through the automated system of the office at Balacco & DeMarco, a kind receptionist put me on hold just long enough to confirm that I could be squeezed in as a new patient later that day. Initially upon arriving I feared the worst, as the reception area was already full with other wheezing and sneezing people and I knew for certain I would be sitting there awhile. This however was not the case. Once I'd finished my paperwork I was asked to pay my deductible (one complaint, take credit cards for this because I felt too sick to stop at an ATM on the way and was then forced to go out into the negative degree wind chill across the street for cash!), and once having paid it I waited all of 5 minutes to be moved to an examination room.
Once there, it was less than 5 minutes before Dr. Balacco came in to see me, and he extended his hand with an introduction and got right down to finding out my health history and then checked me out. It was as comfortable a situation as you could ask for and I highly recommend the Dr. based on his kind demeanor and no nonsense approach to treatment.

Review - I've been going to Balacco & De Marco for about 8 years. I have found their bedside manner very professional and comforting especially for a young urban person. Whether its the common cold or a unexpected breakout of the shingles (Yikes!) they have always been reassuring. In fact, I would say the best testimony is that I've moved to the City over 3 years ago and I still head back to Hoboken for my visits!

Review - Dr. Demarco is a good doctor, however his staff makes it difficult to want to stay with him. For Example, I had a severe ear infection, I called to see if he could take me, he did not have any appointments that day, I asked if he could call in a prescription, the staff woman said she would call me back. After an hour, I called back, rudely and annoyed, she said she didnt have an answer and would call back. She never did and the office closed. I had to go to the emergency room in order to get checked out and the prescription. Its a shame, because he is a good doctor.

Review - the drs. themselves are good, they have nice bedside manners and are professional. The staff is the problem, its hard to get an appointment. I called in very ill before a trip for an appt and was denied-had to wait several days .while i was in office finally i waited over an hour and a patient called in about a lip blister and was told to come on in. The staff also takes forever getting a referral filled out. Its a shame

Review - While sick with the flu last year, I called about 5 doctors who were all booked and refused to squeeze me in. Dr. Balacco saw me right away, prescribed some medicine, and I was feeling better in no time. His staff is efficient and courteous, there is minimal wait time (an 8:30 appointment means 8:30!!!), and he is through and assuring.

Review - I've been going to these two doctors for 7 or 8 years. These are two good men and good solid doctors. They clearly care about their patients and they listen patiently and well. It's a busy office and I'm aware that they're trying to keep things moving but they always listen with full attention. Bottom line: this is a real Hoboken doctor's office, with small town family doctors in the best sense of the words. If you get the spirit of small town Hoboken then you'll get these doctors. And yes, the phone situation was an appalling and infuriating mess for years and it was impossible to get appts but several months ago they switched the system so that you always talk to a real person and not voicemail. I have to admit that the job of getting appts has improved dramatically.

Review - I would agree with the review above. I've been a patient on and off for almost 15 years.
If you can get in they are great. However, we often have had to go to Emergency Medical Clinics for routine but urgent illnesses (like strep throat) because we cannot get in -- even after explaining that one of us has been running a high fever for days with a sore throat.
I think the practice has probably exceeded capacity. It's a shame.

The office is very busy and it is not always possible to get a quick appointment or follow up information. Generally, I have been satisfied with the basic health services provided by the practice.
