Review - The appearance is really impressive. Terrific outdoor seating as well. Went for monday night half-off everything night - the sushi rolls have ground up sushi in them (not solid cuts of sushi). I did get an app that consisted of cubes of various types of fish on a bed of vegs with a lemon dressing - that was outstanding!!! Service was really poor (in part perhaps because tip is automatically included on Monday nights). Sake was luke warm after requesting it to be heated twice and wrong order of rolls arrived at our table. Although half off mondays are worth it, expect your bill to be higher then expected as it is a somewhat expensive place.

Review - We had a late lunch here on 7/13/07. The decor is amazing and the place has great location. The food is extremely over-priced, with the average sushi roll around 14 dollars. The food, albeit good, is not amazing. There are several other establishments around Hoboken that are equally as good, if not better. Drinks are also ridicilously over priced - many joke they are trying to make back the 2MM they spent in renovations. Overall, - when a simple meal costs $58.00 for a lunch...I will pass on going back.

Review - Stopped in for the new summer splurge of 1/2 price menu and many drink specials for Monday nights. Place was swarming with plenty of out-of-towners to take advantage of the intriguing offer.
Service was very friendly and cooperative, but food was just okay. My partner and I were glad that the meals were half priced for we felt that this was the actual worth. The restaurant is beautiful to enter, so for a drink, it would be a nice place to take someone to impress.

Review - Teak has the most unrealized potential in Hoboken- great location and unique decor, but it is very poorly managed and pays little attention to quality, and readily engages in 'bait and switch'. Like most reviewers, I suggest you visit Teak for 1/2 price night, because at full price, you will feel ripped off. The sushi and apps are the best food items. There are a lot of rules about which drinks are 1/2 price so you MUST painfully confirm with the bartender/ server that what you ordered is on special. It is very easy to stumble into full price and they will not warn you when you do. For instance, a woman next to me at the bar asked for a white wine, the bartender asked her whether she wanted chardonnay or a south american blend. She asked for the chardonnay and only discovered on the bill that the chardonnay was $13 and full price. Beers are 1/2 price but not 'specialty beers' - and that list is not available.
Use Teak to provide a little variety to your regular restaurant rotation, but be careful and don't let the decor set your expectations.

Review - This is the third time that I have gone with my boyfriend to Teak for the 1/2 off night. Each time we go, we are less impressed. The bartender actually charged me full price for drinks versus half off and had to reverse the charges after I noticed it. Our waiter was nice but way overwhelmed and failed to mention that the steak items are not included in the 1/2 off menu. By the way, never is it mentioned anywhere that they are not included. The fact that they are not included is also extremely annoying. My sushi, rainbow roll, had way too much sauce and little taste. The appetizers seem to keep getter smaller in size (example- the Tuna tower was half the size from the first time we ordered it.) Positive notes- the decorations are amazing and the Lychee martinis rocked!

Review - I have been to Teak on several occasions since it opened, primarily for the ambiance (it is one of the most beautiful restaurants/bars in Hoboken). I have consistently found that I receive much better service at the bar vs. the dining room, where servers are often cold and inattentive. I recently tried their famous Sunday jazz brunch and was thoroughly disappointed. The buffet served up generous helpings of cold food, greasy bacon, and nothing appetizing at all. The all-you-can drink mimosas seemed like a good deal at first, until I noticed that its basically all-you-can drink OJ with a tiny splash of champagne. I definitely recommend this place for drinks and sushi on their half price nights, but that is about it.

Review - The food is okay but extremely over-priced. Drinks are good, but also very over-priced. The service was not good at all. The decor is pretty impressive for Hoboken. The best part is the huge fish tank behind the bar. This is a good place for cocktails if you don't feel like jumping on the Path to take a trip into NYC. Otherwise, I won't ever go back.

Review - Sushi is very good. The wine list is sub-standard. Indeed it is missing the vintage year for each bottle of wine. The entrees were average. They have a small dessert list and nothing creative on the menu for entrees or dessert.
I would only go back for the sushi.

Review - Wouldn't let me and three friends in on a Saturday night because we weren't with any women. Why do they think we go out to bars/clubs? They must think we like paying $13 per drink for ourselves and a companion.

Review - Great ambiance. nice fish tank at the bar. Food was ok, but WAY overpriced. We had a party of 6 in September 2007. Our server was rushed, and really tried to up-sell everything. We asked about a certain dish and he recommended the most expensive on the menu. He also had no clue about the menu and even explained to us what salsa was (he may have been from Europe...) The mixed drinks were not too expensive but the wine list severely lacked, and was way too expensive. Highlight of the night was the beautiful hostess.

Review - I took my girlfriend to Teak on 8/22 for dinner. We both agreed that the decor and atmosphere of the place was great. We ordered 2 appetizers, sushi, and an entree. The chicken lettuce cups were ok, but the beef rolls were pretty disappointing. The meat was tough and chewy -- frankly they were difficult to eat. This is not what one would expect from one of the priciest appetizers on the menu. The sushi was a complete disaster. I blame the kitchen rather than the waiter here, but the sushi had to go back twice and they still couldn't get it right. After all that confusion, the sushi was still pretty disappointing. For the main, we shared the bacon-wrapped chicken. This was actually pretty good. The sweet chili sauce wasn't as over-powering as I suspected. At any rate, for a less than busy Wednesday night, we waited a long time for the appetizers and the sushi was a disaster. With 2 drinks each in a dinner for 2, at $140 not counting tip, I have little motivation to come back to this place for dinner. It looks like it'd be a nice place to have drinks, though.

Review - Walking in, I was really impressed with the decor and ambiance. However, the food was extremely over-priced for its quality and quantity. Fish was overcooked, as was pasta, but sushi rolls were ok. Again, sushi was over-priced. Service was also mediocre at best - not interested in great service but was happy to include a 25% gratuity for an easy party of 6.

Review - way overpriced! food is good, but not that good.

Review - The ambience was very nice. The large fish tank at the bar is captivating. The restaurant has good, fresh sushi, but that should be expected when the menu is very pricey. The restaurant menu also includes other non-Japanese cuisine. In my opinion, this takes aways from its authenticity. It would be better if they adhere to the Japanese style menu and specialize in their signature dishes. The signature martini drinks are $12 each - too pricey. They can't even make the drinks consistent with the description on the menu. Service is ok.

Review - I tried to stop by on opening night to support the place and check it out. But, even though it was a cold Tuesday night in October, I was not allowed in because I was wearing a baseball cap. O well -- must be nice to not need the business ----- especially on opening night!
