Review - Bob and Fred did a fantastic job repairing my AC in the middle of the heat wave. My AC compressor broke in the middle of the afternoon and they were at my condo an hour later to inspect. After the repair, Bob followed up with a phone call that same evening to make sure the AC is working properly. And to my surprise, he called me again a week later to confirm everything is running smoothly. Bob also gave me some tips but never forced me onto any additional product or service that he offers. Review - 3AM Sunday (today) - woke up in a pool of sweat with dog (Eddy) in even more distress - 95F in the apartment. A/C unit had stopped working in the middle of the night. Very optimistically, I called Bob before 9AM - SUNDAY - and he was over and had the unit repaired before 10AM. He instantly diagnosed the issue, had all the parts on hand and got the unit good as new. He gave me a good laught to boot. Great guy, great service. He is the first (and last) guy you need to call for HVAC issues. Thanks Bob!

Review - We live on Bloomfield. We had so many problems in the past and figured we would try N.E. I thougt the rates were steep since it only took an hour. I was asking Fred about the rates when he simply explained the time to get to my house, finding parking which is like impossible, all the costs of running a business and overhead and insurance and stuff like that. I had a better understanding of it all once I asked. But heat is working great after having 2 other people there before calling them. I do recommend them because they are knowledgable professionals.

Review - Great Experience! We've had problems before with HVAC repairmen since our system is newer and electronically controlled. Last year when we had it fixed, it took the guy 3 visits to make it work, and then it was broken again the next year. Bob sent one of his guys over, and he was in and out in an hour and a half. They came the next morning after I called. He wasn't even there long enough for me to remember his name! (Fred?).
The problem was the pressure switch, and Fred had the proper equipment to actually diagnose the newer systems. He quickly identified the problem, and showed me why the uninformed work that was performed last year caused it. After a quick call to the manufacturer to get the model for the right part, he had one in stock on the truck and replaced it. We have heat again!
They are definitely more expensive per hour, but don't be fooled. You get much more qualified service. In fact, Their hourly rate is over double what I paid last year, but the bill came out to half.

Review - I had an incredible experience with Bob and New England Air. We had no heat at my condo for several days (temp. inside got to 47 degrees!). The reason it took so long to fix was because I made the mistake of going through PSE&G first! After PSE&G charged me more than $700 over the course of their 3 trips to my condo to fix the same problem, when the issue still wasn't resolved, rather than use them for a fourth time, I called New England Air. For starters, Bob picked up the phone (which is a huge plus). I explained to him my dilemma, and he had someone over within an hour. 30 minutes later, the problem was fixed, and we've had heat ever since. Bob even called me that night to make sure everything was OK. EXCEPTIONAL customer service & professionalism.

Review - The first plus was that Bob answered his phone. It doesn't sound like a lot but the number of professionals who don't answer the phone or don't call you back is quite staggering and it can be very frustrating. I said to Bob I wonder if you can help me with a problem with my furnace?. There was a pause, followed by a hearty laugh and Well, yeah that's what we do (stupid). Bob sounds a bit gruff, but basically he's a joker, likes a laugh and likes to pull your leg a bit. Second, he came round within 2 hours of the call. He then worked methodically thru the problem and let me ask lots of questions because I'm a DIY type and I want to know what's going on. He made a few sarcastic remarks about some of the questionable work that had been done before - which I agreed with - and fixed things up properly as he went along. Something that I notice and really appreciate as someone who likes to do a job right. Bob fitted a new Aquastat to the furnace (I have a very old hydronic system), gave the system a good flush out and lubed up the pump. The system works great now and I feel confident that I now have a dependable system (I just moved into the house) and I see no reason why it can't run for many more years.

Review - Our AC didnt work when we came home late last evening, we tried everything but ended up spending a very hot night at home! First thing this morning we called Bob. Review - Bob rocks. I wish all contractor were as honest, skilled and responsible. Hopefully I will not need his services again soon, but when I do he's getting my patronage.
1. Thorough. My fix took about 5 minutes. Instead of bolting and taking the minimum rate, Bob took the time to completely check my system and went up on my roof in 100F temperatures, too. He also gave me some great advice on how make the system more efficient with a quick trip to Home Depot and about 15 minutes of caulking and taping.
2. Quick. I called and he came same day. Told me his rates and called when he was on his way. He had another client running late, so he called to see if I was available earlier. Worked out well.
3. Nice. He is pleasant. Very easy to deal with.

Review - I came home from work in 95 degree heat to find that my AC unit was leaking and had been turned off by the building maintenance company. It could not be turned back on until the unit was serviced. Bob answered my call even thought they were closed, and came over immediately. He diagnosed and fixed the problem right away. He was very courteous. I would highly recommend New England.

Review - This guy was great!! I own a business in town and I needed help before opening on a SAT MORN of all days. Weekends are the busiest for us. Robert (Bob) was here earlier than expected, told me the problem and fixed the problem. He was honest which is something I greatly value especially in emergency situations . I highly recommend him!
He also went out of his way and wrote a letter so I may address the building about my HVAC problem. Now thats customer service!! Adriana

Review - I rarely write reviews, but I make exceptions when the situation warrants it. I have nothing but good things to say about Bob and NE Air conditioning. When our central AC became less effective at generating cold air, I first called another hoboken AC repair company based on a referral. They came by, rather quickly, and informed me that our compressor was broken and needed to be replaced - no explanation, end of story, give me $2000. Decided to get a second opinion and called Bob at NE AC. I told him over the phone what the other guy had said and done and Bob was suspicious of the conclusion. Bob came over a few hours later and within 10 minutes his suspicions were confirmed when he turned on the supposedly broken compressor without difficulty. After another ten minutes he had found a leak in the coil, he showed me the leak so I was clear about the problem, and explained in detail what our options were, the costs of the options and the timing. In our particular case, due to the age of our AC system as well as recent changes in the type of coolant used, we elected to replace the entire system, which was only about twice the cost the other company had quoted me to just replace the compressor. The whole project was completed in the course of about half a day and Bob even followed up on the next hot day to check the functioning of the new system as well as to top off the new coolant. Had we not called Bob we would have replaced our old compressor and then, when that inevitably failed to fix the problem, would have had to replace the entire system (which by the way would have required replacing the newly installed compressor with yet another new compressor.) So while the whole exercise cost a bit of money, in the end we saved some money by going to Bob at NE AC. I am intentionally leaving out the name of the other AC company as one person's experience may differ from another's, but you can save yourself the trouble and go straight to Bob. You may or may not like what he finds, but at least you can be satisfied that your getting an accurate assessment of the problem and your options.

Review - Central air was always giving me problems since purchasing my home 5 years ago. After going through 4 HVAC company, I was desperate. I dreaded the summer as I know my HVAC will again need to be refill with Freon. Not one of them found a leak any where. The last one tested the coils and said no leak and suggested it was probably the pipes (behind the wall) which link the condenser and the unit in the house. Wanted to perform other test which of course will cost more $$$. Said no and one year later….last week, no cool air….again. I came across New England from this website and after reading the reviews I made up my mind to call Bob for help. I needed intervention here! Call him and he came over the same day. 5 mins after popping the hood off the coil and with his handy sniff-o-meter, he found the leaks in the coil. Gave me options, replace the coil or replace the entire thing which uses the new cooling gas. Tax credit in mind and one thing to worry about when its time to sell, I went with the latter. 2 days later Bob and Fred (trusty assistant) showed up with the new unit. He installed the new unit, tested the system after and even volunteered to re-fabricate parts of the intake vents, which he threw in as a freebie!!! It was like thunder clapping in my laundry room whenever the air condition switched on. Did I mention that he even took the extra step of sound proofing the new vents. New system works like a charm, noise cut by half and now I am sitting in an ice box on this hot Fourth of July. It’s hard to find a good, reliable, honest & professional contractor these days. Finding Bob is like finding a pot of gold at the end of the HVAC rainbow. Thanks Bob!!!! And Fred.

Review - We called NE and were told to check a bunch of stuff before he came on a call. We checked and everything seemd to be working ok. He's a litte rough on the phone but when he got here he is really charming. He made us laugh and explained what he had to do and why. I am sure he was pretty beat up because it was 90 degrees all day and by the time he got here he was drenched and probably beat. He did his thing and we're happy Hoboken'ers right now. The guy doesn't give up. He stayed here until he found out what it was. I think it bothered him more than it did us. Would recommend him to all our friends in Hoboken.

Review - On Sunday night my air conditioning died. I woke up at 2am, sweating, to find the temperature was 83 degrees in the apartment. I checked all of the dials and the circuit breaker - but still no ac.
I miserably went back to bed. =(
The next morning i had to leave my dog, ScoobyDoo, home alone in the apartment with just the breeze.
On Monday morning at 8am after looking around online, i came across New England AC. After looking at the reviews i dediced to call and provide ScoobyDoo with some tempterature relief.
When i called, 'Bob' sounded a bit rough on the phone, but ScoobyDoo was hot and John needed a cool apartment as well.
At 150pm Bob was at my apartment. He was early for our appoitment very froendly.
He and his assistant went up to the roof. I spoke with him as he did his investigating. He's a smart guy and will to explain things to those that are mechanically inclined and curious about how things work.
All said and done, 90 minutes later the temperature in my apartment is at 82 degrees and dropping.
ScoobyDoo is happy. John is happy. ScoobyDoo is cool. John is cool.
All is good in the world once again.

Review - Super fast and professional service! Called at 10 in the morning and he apologized he couldn't get my place before 11:30! Review - This is the second time I've called Bob and both times the service was outstanding. First one was during Labor Day weekend my AC gave out. I had visitors in the house and really needed to get this fixed quickly. I initially called another company which had the service contract for my AC for the past 3 years and they basically told me to call back on Tuesday after the holiday and schedule and appointment. I then called Bob on Saturday a.m. and he was in my home by 2 p.m.. He provided a short term fix that got things working again and then came back later the following week to finish up a more permanent solution to the problem. He also suggested installing a covering for my air intake vent that significantly reduced the AC noise in my home. Very clean, diligent and friendly service. I cancelled my service contract with the other company and decided to rely on NE AC Corp for any future repairs. Two weeks ago on a Saturday late afternoon my AC gave out and I called them again. Bob was here on Sunday morning. Nothing related to the prior repair. Electrical part burnt out due to recent brownouts. Replaced the part and we were good to go. Both times they have exceeded expectations and would definitely recommend.

Turned out it was a simple fix (connection that had come undone), and they fixed it without trying to sell me anything else. Also noticed the air vent wasn't loosened enough so they fixed that too. Review - This is as good a repair service as you can deal with. My furnace broke in the middle of the night. Called at 7:30 a.m. and left a message. Got a call back at 7:40 a.m. by the owner who apologized for not answering the phone. They came by 9:30 a.m. and fixed the furnace. Extremely professional and clearly honest as they only needed to clear some clogged condensation tubes and didn't try to tell me I needed some expensive repair.

Review - Just had the pleasure of dealing with Bob. My heat was cutting out and after weeks of doing my own research and trying to DIY it myself I caved in and called Bob. Review - I called NE and Bob said I dont want to charge you for a service call if it is something I can walk you thru on the phone. He told me to check this and that, this and that and sure enough it was the filter that needed to be changed and stopped the air going thru. I got a new filter and the unit works great. Im glad I didn't need him to come over and I saved money to. But if I have another problem I will call him again because he is honest an wasnt looking to make a buck off of me. Review - I called Bob after reading his favorable reviews online. He came withing 45 minutes and fixed my AC for $900 less than PSEG had quoted me for. I called him again recently regarding another issue, and he promptly responded and made time to see me the next day.
Review - Bob is a character, as you will read in the posts below but his gruff manner conceals a big heart and his professionalism is unsurpassed by any of the contractors that we have dealt with in preparing to sell our condo. He is licensed, insured and has offices in town. Bob returns phone calls, arrives on time diagnoses the situation and explains it in laymen’s terms then offers OPTIONS and SOLUTIONS. Review - Let me tell you, the BEST service ever! My AC went down over the weekend. I had called another company and it took them two days to get back to me, so I decided to call Bob (I got his # through this web site). Review - This week-end with the temp @ 90 our A/C stopped working. Many in our building have used Bob/ NE A/C and all had super positive feedback, so why take a chance we called the King of AC's. Bob as you all know by now knows his trade, does a job like it should be done, right the first time. He came quickly found the problem, replaced the faulty part, replaced old leaking caps with new ones, all within a hour. He has the parts in his truck, no need to wait. Bob is straight fwd abiut this fees 1 1/2 minimum plus parts. So bottom line have AC problems call Bob, fast, professional, knows his trade, is local. I recommend him 100%. When other say it can't be fixed just say thank you and call Bob.

Review - The day I moved into my condo the heat stopped working. I called a number of places and none of them serviced gas forced hot air systems at all. Then I called Bob - when I told him where I live he knew right off the top of his head the brand of the heating system in my building! He arrived later that day with some spare parts he thought he would need based on my description of the problem, and fixed the unit right then! Definitely worth calling Bob with any issues.

Review - AC died on a Sunday at the beginning of heatwave coming over the next couple of days. We called PSE&G, who quoted an outrageous price just to come look at the unit and spent most of the week being jerked around by contractors over the phone. We have a seven month old at home and we're desperate to get this fixed. We found N/E on this site, read the reviews and called Bob the next morning. He was at our house in a couple of hours, he repaired the motor, filled the freon, replaced our missing valve caps, and had everything up and running in just a couple of hours. No hassles, no b/s,. He was patient and explained everything about the system to us first-time homeowners and now the AC is better than ever even though he was working in a 90+ degree attic. Like the other reviewer said He is focused on service, responds quickly and knows what he's talking about. You don't feel like you're being BS'd. Review - AC died on a Friday night when it was 80-something degrees with a heatwave coming over the next couple of days. I called PSE&G, who condemned the unit the next morning and proceeded to tell me they could replace it, but it would require a crane, a structural engineer, an HVAC engineer and a police officer. I knew I didn't want to go that route, but I asked them to send an estimator, anyway. I immediately called Bob, who showed up at my place 45 minutes later, even though it was a Saturday. He confirmed that the unit was bad, but told me that PSE&G didn't know what they were talking about and he could replace the unit without the crane, etc. He replaced the unit on the next business day without any hassle on my part. He also found some leaks on my internal unit, which he quickly sealed up - now the AC is better than ever. He is focused on service, responds quickly and knows what he's talking about. You don't feel like you're being BS'd. Would use him again in an instant. (P.S. The unit is replaced and PSE&G still has not called me back for the estimate)

Review - My wife and I had an issue with our Trane central air conditioning unit last night and called NE this morning. They took our call right away and were able to come over same day to fix the problem. I was at work while my wife was at home with the technician and she said that he was very very nice and professional. She said that it was clear that he knew what he was doing and that she felt very comfortable with him. The price was very reasonable as well. Review - A big loss for me. Last fall he submitted an estimate and I thought it was pricy. I shopped around and got someone for almost half and hired them. Now those contractors live here practicaly. Every day its another problem and it still isn't solved. I got what I paid for. Next time around with my other buildings I'll go for the expertise and quality the first time. He did come highly recommended and I should have listened to my friends. My mistake, the next job is going to New England.

Review - I chose New England based on the positive reviews on this site. I have had terrible heating problems that no one seemed to be able to solve. In contrast to other technicians, Bob had availability and arrived promptly at the appointed time. That alone sets this company apart from many others. Upon arrival, Bob quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem and kept at it until he located it. As an honest businessman, he even tried providing a simpler fix than what was ultimately needed but unfortunately my heating problems were more severe. Bob was always reachable by telephone, even over the holidays and on weekends. When he came back the second time, he was able to find the problem and fix it for good.
To sum up the experience, Bob is old school: a reliable expert who takes pride in his workmanship and doesn't cut corners. If you have a serious HVAC problem, I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Review - Heat went out one cold night. I looked on Kannekt for someone to call and saw all the reviews for Bob. I called him, he answered, came over in about an hour and a half, diagnosed the problem in 5 mins, got the part needed in a couple hours, came back installed it in 5-10 mins and voila, we had heat again. If you just want it done quickly and correctly, he's the guy. If you want to find someone cheaper, good luck, maybe they'll show up, maybe they'll know what they're doing and maybe you'll save a few bucks. Thanks Bob!

Review - I can understand why he might be a little curt but when he tells me what he deals with it seems everybody wants a job done for free. Hey, it was Sunday and he answered! PSE&G said I needed a new unit. A/C Man #2 said it couldn't be fixed either. Well, Bob did fix it for $187.50 and it's colder than Alaska ! Praise to Bob for a job well done. Been over a month and going good as ever. Thanx Bob!

Review - Wow. Bob was fantastic. He might come across a little quick on the phone, but make no mistake, he knows his stuff. His rough sense of urgency pays off... he answers the phone, actually shows up fast, works quickly and efficiently. He quickly went to work diagnosing my problem and fixed it. My AC was leaking and it went downstairs and ruined my neighbos ceiling. The leak was caused by a backup in the drain pipe which was probably caused by sentiment not caught by the filter. So, this is why they tell you to change your filter regularly! If not, you end up flooding your neighbors apartment and having to pay to fix it. Ugh. I guess these are lessons you learn as a first time condo owner in Hoboken. Luckily we have a guy like Bob to help us when we screw up. He charged be a minimum of 1.5 hours at a rate of $125 per hour. I thought this was reasonable considering he got here so quick (on the hottest day of the year) and he did a great job. Highly recommeded.

Review - I called New England Air Conditioning after I was told by another company that my entire unit needed to be replaced. They said it would cost me over $3600. Bob came in and identified the problem right away, fixed everything in under an hour and it only cost $240. I am so glad that I called Bob for a second opinion and saved myself a whole lot of money and aggravation!! I would definitely recommend Bob-- outstanding, professional service!

Review - My A/C malfunctioned on the Friday evening of Memorial Day weekend, the first really hot one. It was sweltering in my apartment. I called Bob at New England Air Conditioning that evening, expecting to get an answering machine and then, in typical Hoboken fashion, no return call --especially on a holiday weekend. However, I was happily surprised that Bob answered the phone and agreed to help me the next morning, asking me to call him at 7:30AM. I did, and we arranged for him to come over about 1.5 hours later (he already had an appointment before mine). He promptly identified the problem, fixed it, did not charge extra for the weekend work, and my A/C has been running perfectly ever since. I highly recommend Bob for his service, skills, and honesty.

Review - PSE&G technicians from their Worry-Free Program told me that they were unable to fix my air conditioning unit and the 1.5 ton compressor (i.e., the air conditioning unit) needed to be replaced. As I was calling around for installation cost estimates (ranging from $2,600 to $2,800), I came across Bob from New England Air Conditioning Corp who informed me that it is very unlikely that a 10-year old unit would need to be replaced since they are designed to last about 20 years. Bob came over and fixed the unit for $252. The solution was that the coils needed to be washed out, some freon was added, and PSE&G had connected a couple wires incorrectly. Needless to say, I promptly cancelled the PSE&G Worry-Free Program and requested a full refund for the monthly fees paid to date. Hoboken residents appreciate that Bob is saving their air conditioning units...one unit at a time. Bob, thank you!

Review - I would highly recommend New England. Not only did Bob answer the phone right away but when I told him my heat was out he came over within the hour. He was not only able to fix my problem but when I told him my address, he was able to tell me the heating unit I had and also the problem I was experiencing. The man knows his business!

Review - I highly recomend using New England Services. I contacted Bob after my central air system wasn't working and PSE&G told me I had to replace the entire unit. Instead, Bob came out to my apartment and fixed the unit at a fraction of the cost - my central air system has been working great ever since! I highly reccomend.

Review - I called Bob on the hottest day of the year at 7:30am, based on recommendations from this website. Not knowing what to expect, I was thrilled to actually get him on the phone immediately. He was able to come by at noon (I really didn't expect such quick service during a heat wave!) He diagnosed the problem quickly, had the right parts with him and fixed it on the spot. He was really nice, and willing to explain to me what the problem was so that I would understand what he was doing. And at 4:30 in the afternoon I was pleasantly surprised by a follow-up call to check on me, to see if it was working better now, and of course it was! Review - Excellent service! I've been paying for a PSE&G Worry-Free Contract for 4 years and my A/C just broke down for the first time. PSE&G came over and refused to fix my A/C because they evidentially only have to fix units on the ground and not on rooftop. The PSE&G repairman was terribly rude to boot!
I call NE and they came over that day. The repairman fixed the problem right away (he had spare parts in his truck) with no complaints.
The bill from NE was half of what I have paid PSE&G over the past 4 years, and the work was done fast. I highly recommend NE HVAC!

Review - Just had my air conditioning repaired by NE after PSEG said the work was not covered by their WorryFree plan. They came same day (called at 1, AC repaired by 5) and fixed the AC unit without replacing the major parts that PSEG said were broken

Review - Bob answers the phone 24/7. When I called to leave a message on a Sunday, he actually picked up. He came over later that day (on a Sunday !!!). Charges the same hourly rate on weekends as he does on weekdays, but most of all, he gets it right the first time, every time. I have used Bob 2x (2 different HVAC units) and have been very very pleased that the systems were fixed and have worked ever since.
