Review - After hearing about La Isla from friends, we decided to try it on a Saturday afternoon. The cramped interior with a diner-like bar and cafeteria tables put me off at first but I am VERY glad we decided to listen to our friends. The service is fast, friendly and it doesn't matter who's helping you because EVERYBODY'S helping you. The environment is fast-paced with lively Cuban music in the background and plenty of takeout orders coming and going. We tried the Lechon Asado (roast shredded pork with Sweet Plantains, yellow rice and red beans served in a ramekin like chili) which was one of their recurring Saturday lunch specials; two appetizers--Pinchos de Chorizo y Camarones (lime and garlic marinated chorizo and shrimp skewers served with salad greens--the dressing is killer), and a Papa Rellena (mashed potato stuffed with ground meat, cooked crispy outside and soft inside); and finished with a couple of Cuban Lattes (rich and hearty crema and espresso with steamed milk). The experience did not disappoint--every single item was delicious, our total bill for two was $35 including a very generous tip, and I had enough food left over for more than a full lunch the next day. I highly recommend trying La Isla.

Review - I have been looking for a great Cuban place to take my boyfriend who is actually Dominican...We both ended up LOVING La Isla. According to my boyfriend, everything was very authentic...Everything that we had was delicious...including the tostones and the sweet platanos. And we payed half the price that we payed at another Cuban restaurant in hoboken... We will most likely be going there as long as I live in Hoboken!

Review - My girlfriend and I just happened to try this place randomly earlier this year. Since then, it's become one of our favorite weekend places for breakfast/brunch. Not sure why other people posted the service is bad...every time we go, everything comes out lightning fast. All the food we've had has been delicious and the cafe con leche is the best thing you could possibly put into a cup. Place is tiny, but turnover is quick, so never a problem. Besides, this is probably the only place I don't mind waiting 10 minutes for a table. Well worth the trip.

Review - We read about this place online and finally tried it. FANTASTIC food. The spinach/mushroom empanadas were crazy good. Then everything else was tasty, too, from the coconut halibut to the pork chops. The best beans we've had!

Review - Deliciously addictive Cuban food. Shrimp in garlicky sauce and skirt steak w/chimichurri are outstanding, and black beans and yellow rice are not to be missed. Sweet waitstaff & BYOB- La Isla is a real gem.

Review - La Isla was excellent. I wanted the beef stew special, but by 8p it had already sold out!! But the waitress was really nice and very helpful, and suggested a different dish that was delicious. The fried mash potatoe with the meat on the inside was GREAT. It is BYOB...
I highly reccomend La Isla.

Review - I have had many Daily Lunch Specials (not just one meal as many here have reviewed) and I have come to the conclusion that La Isla Restaurant is overrated. The lunch is average, when it is available. The take out service is horrible. You normally have to wait about 5-10 minutes before someone takes your order. I've never had dinner at La Isla, unless the service staff and cook are different, I'm sure my experiences would still be the same.

Review - I love La Isla! I used to live upstairs and practically lived on their food for three years. I never even used my coffee machine when I lived there because La Isla was open at 7:00 am so I would go downstairs in my PJ's every morning to grab two cafe con leche.Great Restaurant! Great People. I wish them continued success!

Review - Delicious Cuban home cooked meals and creative cuisine. The specials are more expensive, but well worth it. The waiters and waitresses can be very surly, and slow to boot! But the food makes up for the bad service. The decor is Cuban kitch, but fun and Celia Cruz or Willie Chirino are playing in the background.

Review - Easily one of the best restaurants in Hoboken. Very creative cuisine in addition to some of the Cuban classics. Som of the best seafood dishes in town! Service and Decor could be improved, but the food overshadows those issues.
