Review - I've been going to these two doctors for 7 or 8 years. These are two good men and good solid doctors. They clearly care about their patients and they listen patiently and well. It's a busy office and I'm aware that they're trying to keep things moving but they always listen with full attention. Bottom line: this is a real Hoboken doctor's office, with small town family doctors in the best sense of the words. If you get the spirit of small town Hoboken then you'll get these doctors. And yes, the phone situation was an appalling and infuriating mess for years and it was impossible to get appts but several months ago they switched the system so that you always talk to a real person and not voicemail. I have to admit that the job of getting appts has improved dramatically.

Review - I had no problem getting an appointment and the staff and the doctor could not have been nicer - I was concerned about a problem I had and the doctor was reassuring, listened and paid the kind of close attention that makes me feel I am getting good care. Definitely a great practice.

Review - I would agree with the review above. I've been a patient on and off for almost 15 years.
If you can get in they are great. However, we often have had to go to Emergency Medical Clinics for routine but urgent illnesses (like strep throat) because we cannot get in -- even after explaining that one of us has been running a high fever for days with a sore throat.
I think the practice has probably exceeded capacity. It's a shame.

Review - I have seen both Balacco and DeMarco for various health issues over the last 7 years. I have always received good care and they are personable and professional. The office is very busy and it is not always possible to get a quick appointment or follow up information. Generally, I have been satisfied with the basic health services provided by the practice.

Review - I found Dr. DeMarco---when I actually got into see him after a 3-hour wait from my scheduled app't. time---caring, competent & compassionate. Alas, his support staff was rude & incompetent. As gate-keeper, the front office is an essential part of practice management. Very unfortunate!

Review - While sick with the flu last year, I called about 5 doctors who were all booked and refused to squeeze me in. Dr. Balacco saw me right away, prescribed some medicine, and I was feeling better in no time. His staff is efficient and courteous, there is minimal wait time (an 8:30 appointment means 8:30!!!), and he is through and assuring.

Review - I was referred to Dr. Balacco when I moved to the area. His office has not disappointed. Yes, the office is very busy. This is to be expected of a good office, especially in Hoboken. I have found though, that if something is truly pressing, they will make room for you.
The most important reason I like the doctor is that he really checks you over. He doesn't just make a quick diagnosis, write a script and then send you on your way. When something is 'grey', he'll run the gambit of tests to be certain that everything is fine. It seems like he cares, and that is worth the wait.

Review - Once you actually get in to see these doctors, they are wonderful, extremely helpful. However, the process to actually get an appointment, or even someone on the phone is dreadful. Either they are understaffed or the staff they have is just lazy. Being put on hold for 30 min's at a time is not acceptable.
