Review - Hothem Enterprises barely provides the necessities to live in their buildings. This is the second Hothem building I have lived in, and the problems in both buildings are similar. There is no weather stripping around the windows and doors, floor and bathroom tiles are loose or non-existent, sinks drip and leak, etc. Before the summer of 2003, these problems were dealt with minimally, but since then, office management has changed, and it is impossible to get them to respond in any way.

Review - If you want a crappy old building with no amenities, if you want to freeze in the winter and roast in the summer, then sign up to live in a Hothem apartment. I think they might compete on price -- 1 BR's can go for $1300-$1400, which is reasonable in Hoboken -- but besides that there isn't much to endorse here.

Review - Nothing gets fixed and god for bid you call the emergancy line cause the guy can't come fix the emergency until the landlord gives him permission. The ceiling has leaked twice and nothing has been done about it. A seal on the toliet broke and they came 4 days later to fix it and the bathroom flooded. Then the lights were out in the hallway of the building for a week before they turned them back on. HUGE drafts from the shotty window installment, so be prepared for a expensive heating bill. We were told to clean the front area and staircase of building. Um? Isn't that what we pay rent for? The woman at the office constantly changes polices without informing any of the tenants and rude to tenants.

Review - I agree with all the other posters about the rude management. When there was a leak in the building, she harassed me that I must have overfilled the bathtub, and I found out later from another tenant that the leak was due to snow. When there was an electrical problem that burned up my TV and VCR, she and her idiot repairman blamed it on me, saying that my air conditioner was 220 volts. No 220-volt appliance can be plugged in to a regular outlet, and I have documentation that proves my AC is 110, but no luck, and no more TV or VCR. She blamed me for any noise in the building, despite the fact that I was always working and was never there, including that of a --quote--loud fight between me and my boyfriend --unquote-- which is interesting because I lived alone and was at work on the night in question. Now that I've moved out, she refuses to return my security deposit and I'm filing a claim in small claims court to get it. I will add that the previous management was nice, and I did not have the problems with heating or broken appliances the others have had. There is a new washer in the building, but the old washer and dryer are constantly broken.

Review - The lady that manages the buildings is incredibly rude. She tries to pick a fight over any little issue. It took her four months to get her low-class repairman over to put our refirigerator door back on. It was so old that the hinges rusted off and we literally had to use a bungee cord to keep our food fresh. She constantly calls us at all hours of the night for personal reasons.

Review - HORRIBLE--start to finish! This is the second Hothem building I have lived in, and it is falling apart. If you butter up and flatter the incredibly rude and outwardly prejudiced office manager, (not racist to me, but thinks it is acceptable to be racist towards others in front of me, as if I approve because I am white), then you might get her to send her crappy handyman, to fix the problem. He is the only handyman for all of their 375 untis, so make sure you only pursue the IMPORTANT problems, like no weather stripping around the windows, old refrigerator leaking all over the apartment, and rust in your water. Even then, it may take weeks of calling and calling and calling and calling... to get him in there. Don't get your hopes up, though, because you will not get your messages returned, you will get shoddy workmanship, if any, and you will still have money deducted from your security deposit in the end. I have lived in this area for many years, and I even gave Hothem a fair shot by trying out TWO of their buildings, but Hothem is the worst landlord I have ever had. They do not treat people with decency.

Review - Since living in Hudson County for over 5 years, I expected no better and no worse than the other bad landlords I've had. Overall, I only have 2 issues:
1) Bad heating in winter. Old windows with no weather proofing, and the baseboard heating units don't have enough fins/ribbing on the piping to do any good. A 10ft wall will only have 4ft of fins/ribbing on the heater pipes. this doesn't do any good, not enough heat distribution.
2) No sound proofing in the walls, ceiling, or floors. At times you can hear your neighbors as if they're in the next room. When I looked at my apartment, the previous tenant as well as **** told me that you NEVER hear your neighbors. But I found out otherwise a few nights after I moved in.

As for the rudeness of the office management, I witnessed **** hassle a caller inquiring about an apartment when I was signing my lease.

Review - The building is very nice but it takes forever to get anything fixed. I had to call 6 months to get a simple thing fixed and the person that answered the phone was always rude - like she had more important things to do.

Review - I have a very bad experience dealing with a new Hothem management, they never responde or always late to the problems we have in the apartment. Thi biggest problems are old windows and the heat during cold months. The radiator just doesn't do its job, it's been very cold and nothing has been done yet in this matter.
