Review - Service was just fine, though we didn't go at dinner rush. Substitutions no problem. The food was very good: the Greek salad, stuffed grape leaves and gyros were generous and very nicely balanced; tzatziki was particularly so. And very clean all around - very similar to the better tavernas on Crete, though the cuisine is understandably more Americanized. Very worthwhile and way overdue in Hoboken.

Review - First I must say that I am thrilled that there is finally a proper greek restaurant in Hoboken. My guest and I had the the Taramosalata and lamb souvlaki. Both were very very good. The Taramosalata deserves a special mention... it is indeed the best I have had in a very long time. The service was fast, professional and very friendly. I think the decor is pleasant, but. . .and this is really my only complaint: it is far too bright in the restaurant. I would prefer much dimmer lighting. I think having more candles and less overhead lighting would work well with the yellows and blues and create a warmer more inviting dining experience.

Review - Its Greek to Me began construction and I felt a rumbling in my belly for Keftedes (not the Swedish kind), Kalamarakia, and Tzatziki.

When the restaurant opened I ate there opening day, three times. Upon my 25 successive trips I have
everything is truly delightful and consistent on the menu except for the fries smothered in lemon are a bit too soggy.
The only other drawback that I had with the place is that the Tzatziki sauce is so good and I ate so much of
it that I became lactose intolerant.
The decor of the restaurant is Yanni meets Christopher Lowell. The pastel colors are refreshing and at least
there are no sea shells glued to mahogany.

The service is Greek Cafe steady. The servers are friendly but move at a pace more befitting those in socialist 4 day
work week countries. Serving Suggestion: For the World Cup catering events shape the dipping sauces in the image of a soccer ball.

Overall 40 out of 50.

Review - As I am half Greek and half Lithuanian, and grew up in a home where ethnic cooking was an everyday thing, I consider myself a person who is very opinionated on the quality of the food that is served in restaurants, especially Greek restaurants being that I live in Astoria, NY.

After having spent a day in Hoboken helping my co worker and friends renovate a newly purchased condo, we were very hungry and happen to stumble upon by this restaurant- let me say we are glad we did!

We started off with a large Horiatiki Salad to share amongst us, and it was wonderful, I havent had a salad this tasty without lettuce for as long as I remember, this salad reminded me of the big bowl of Horiatiki that my gia-gia (grandmother in Greek) used to prepare for our big family holidays as a youngster living with my father who ran owned moving business in Greece. The tomatoes were well ripened and bursting with flavor, coated by a wonderful mix of olive oil, onions, olives, oregano, and quality feta cheese. (No cheap stuff here, I can tell the difference!)

We also split up an octopus salad, but the portion was not enough for three people (make sure to order two if you are a company of three +) the octopus was not the grilled variety but the pickled type that can be bought at the usual olive bars here back in Astoria, by the pound, (similar to the octopus that comes in the can at the latin groceries and the kind my uncles used eat while they drink their Ouzo, OPA!) Nevertheless, it definitely opened up our appetites for more to come.

My friend Kurt, ordered the Lamb in Fillo, and he loved its richness (he commented on how saucy it was inside the light flaky crust) - except for the amount of dill, he stated that it needed a bit more to lower some of the gamey-ness of the meat. He is 100% Lithuanian and he definitely enjoys a heavy meat/carb combination.

My friend Bruce ordered a grilled chicken over a salad. He is on a diet and did not order any dressing other than vinegar. Nothing extraordinary, but he did like the simple fresh lemon squeeze over his chicken. A better alternative than the heavier creamy dressings that we are so often accustomed to nowadays. Again, nothing fancy, but he did enjoy it.

I had the Yemista, or stuffed peppers and tomatoes. Simply wonderful. The peppers and tomatoes were stuffed with a mixture of rice, meat, parsley, and the innards of the veggies that are stuffed. The veggies were cooked thoroughly to the point were all the tastes were perfectly combined yet still distinct. The lemon potatoes included with the yemista we perfectly cooked, and slightly singed (very home-style) just like I remembered them back in Greece.

The dcor was pretty much boilerplate Greek, (choice of colors, table settings and chairs) but comfortable. Service could have been a little faster, but I noticed that there were many outgoing orders and the staff was at full capacity. Apparently many others like this place too!

Verdict? Great food, low cost, slight wait on the service-= Definitely worth it. This Greek/Lith will definitely be there again soon! OPA!

Review - As I am Greek, my friend who lives in Hoboken recommended that I eat at It's Greek To Me. So, after a long day of work, I took the Path train from Manhattan and was eagerly anticipating a traditional Greek meal that would remind me of home. To my delight, I was not disappointed at all. Everything I had, from the tzatziki to the mykono was delightful. The service was warm and friendly, much better than many NYC restaurants. The staff made me feel right at home. It was worth the trip and I will return many times.

Review - My family was in town this past week and since were Greek and I read great things about Its Greek to Me, we were very excited to try the place. Unfortunately, our overall impression of the place was that it is average - - at best.

The appearance of the place was fine. It was very bright and even though it is new, was impeccably clean.

The service was sub par. We were served by three different people, none of which was particularly good. The person that took our order was not very knowledgeable of the menu and the people that tended to us afterwards were never prompt. It was not very busy either, so I am not certain what the problem was.

The food was average to below-average. I am really surprised by some of the previous reviews on this site (and even more surprised by a newspaper write-up!). We ordered a variety of things (Greek salad w/ chicken, souvlaki platter, gyro pita and several appetizers) and the only thing we truly enjoyed was the revithosalata (hummus). The grape leaves were average, the sauces were all below average and the chicken/souvlaki meats were all overcooked. We are used to the tastes, which when done well are divine, so it leads me to believe that either the food is not as good as advertised or we came on a bad night.

Review - This restaurant is amazing. I am Greek, and I eat in Greek restaurants all the time. During the second day of the grand opening, every table was full and the delivery wait was nearly an hour, which is almost unprecedented for a new restaurant in hoboken. I had the souvlaki, which was out of this world. The tzadziki sauce was as good as the one I had when I was in Greece. The service was impecable, the franchise owner and his son were there to help ease the transition and every one of the staff was personable and extremely accomodating. The food is authentic and amazing, and the atmosphere was very fun. I'm a fan and will continue to go back.

Review - The food was quite good. Great stuffed grape leaves and the best tzatziki I have ever had. There was a fabulous homemade chicken and orzo soupd as well. The wife had a very good greek salad and I had lamb souvlaki which should have been great but was well over-cooked. On the one hand, I should have asked for it cooked rare, but since they didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked when I ordered, I trusted them. They ruined what was very nice and lean lamb. The service was unremarkable, but not terrible.

Review - It's Greek to Me is one of my favorite restaurants in NJ. The newest restaurant in Hoboken is great. The food is fresh, arrived promptly, and you can't beat the prices. I can't wait until the weather's nice and you can sit outside. Make sure you check it out!

Review - In short very disappointing. As the only Greek restaurant in the area we had high hopes for this place and gave it a try. Salad was decent but the entree was awful one of our entree- the filo lamb the meat was literally bad. Service took too long as well since it looked like they were more pre-occupied with the take-outs orders. May be decent for just plain souvlakia takeout but that's about it I think.

Review - Review - The service was professional, and fast. However,
the food was disappointing. The spinach pie was dry and there was a small amount of feta cheese and spinach. The lamp was too well done. The greek pastry was delicious. I might give the restaurant another chance, but wouldn't recommend.

Review - Great authentic greek food, however, they need to work on their delivery service. Ordered take out 3 times and all three times delivery was over an hour wait...first time it was 2-1/2 hours! But the food was excellent.
