Review - I also received my rent renewal the other day... and I nearly fainted! A 15% increase (year over year) in rent? It used to be more cost effective to rent, rather than buy in Paulus Hook... but now the tables have turned. Go buy a 2BR in Hoboken or a 1BR in the city. Its now cheaper per month than living at the Pier.
Regarding the building/area, its really like living in a hotel. The walls are paper-thin and you can hear everything (flushing toilets, phone conversations, sex, etc). Concierge staff is very friendly though.

Review - The location, views and roof deck (there is no pool)are fantastic. But the building, like most around here, is cheaply constructed. The party room was sold to us as available for rent for $200 for an evening but later we were informed that it is $250 an hour. The new management company does not really want people using it, they just want to show it to prospective tenants.
The business center has also been stripped of equipment that we were sold on when we moved in. There never was a fax machine, and lately the copier/scanner have been permanently removed. You can ask the concierge to make copies for you but it is still not the same.
The charge for gas - which is set by the building - of $75 a month seems steep, especially in summer.
Still, we have enjoyed living here and are sad because a 20% increase in rent for 2006 will probably price us out of the building. What used to be a decent deal has now become as expensive as many of the other overpriced buildings in the area.

Review - Pros: Quiet, convenient, great views. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. The ferry stops at the building -easy & scenic commute to midtown. Path 2 minutes. Light rail 1 minute. Lots of dogs. Between apartment insulation excellent. A quality building. Cons: Smallish parking spaces. Expensive.

Review - Great place to live? Please. The ferry and the light rail are convenient, but that's the only good thing about living here. Oh...and the view. Other than that, it's a joke. The water is moldy and the temp control is impossible. Packages get lost. You are forced to pay for a parking garage that isn't monitored or secure. The management is comprised of two-bit half-wits and the building is held together with chewed gum. $3000/month is better put to use thrown in a gutter than it is to rent here.
